“But suggesting that men should stick to some musty script of masculinity only perpetuates the problem. For starters, it encourages them to confront new challenges the same way they dealt with earlier upheavals: by blaming women, retreating into the woods, or burying their anxieties beneath machismo. And it does nothing to help them succeed in school, secure sustainable jobs, or be better fathers in an economy that’s rapidly outgrowing Marlboro Manliness.” Genius.

Before reading any of the listed pieces, a pondering of the slow death of Newsweek via this one cover: The three featured articles include one evergreen (could’ve been published between, oh, let’s say death-of-Abel time and the foreseeable future of mankind) and two trend pieces/op-eds (one—Facebook—a corpse with very little marrow left in the bones, the other—Tea Party—covered hourly, minutely, by every single outlet on the internet), but is anyone mistaking Newsweek for The Atlantic these days? Or Gawker, for that matter? Why haven’t they renamed the magazine?

“To survive in a hostile world, guys need to embrace girly jobs and dirty diapers.” Okay just for fun let’s see how far I make it into this garbage.

Were it only true that the “traditional man” were on the verge of extinction.
It’d solve more than a few problems.
